The enantiomeric separation ability of the newly prepared chiral stationary phases containing acridino‐18‐crown‐6 ether selectors was studied by high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The chiral stationary phases separated the enantiomers of selected protonated primary aralkylamines efficiently. The best results were found for the separation of the mixtures of enantiomers of NO2‐PEA. Chirality 26:651–654, 2014....
Recently, the direct substitution of allylic, benzylic, and tertiary alcohols has been achieved via SN1‐type reactions with catalytic amounts of Brønsted or Lewis acids. When a new stereogenic center is formed most of these transformations produce the desired product as a racemate, as these reactions proceed through carbenium ions. The arsenal of activation modes available in organocatalysis can be...
A novel method was developed for the simultaneous determination of guaifenesin (GUA) and ketorolac tromethamine (KET) enantiomers in plasma samples. Since GUA probably increases the absorption of coadministered drugs (e.g., KET), it would be extremely important to monitor KET plasma levels for the purpose of dose adjustment with a subsequent decrease in the side effects. Enantiomeric resolution was...
Lanthanide complexes exhibit interesting spectroscopic properties yielding many applications as imaging probes, natural chirality amplifiers, and therapeutic agents. However, many properties are not fully understood yet. Therefore, we applied magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) spectroscopy, which provides enhanced information about the underlying electronic structure to a series of lanthanide compounds...
An improved method, which is highly reproducible, was developed for the enantioseparation of racemic O‐ethyl phenylphosphonothioic acid (1a) with brucine by introducing seeding to a supersaturated solution of the diastereomeric salt mixture. The present method gave both diastereomeric salts in high yields with a diastereomeric ratio of >99.5:0.5 upon choosing the crystallization solvent (MeOH for...
Residual stereoisomers result whenever closed subsets of appropriately substituted interconverting isomers (the residual stereoisomers) are generated from a full set of stereoisomers under the operation of a favored stereomerization mechanism. In the case of the three‐bladed propellers, differentiation of the edges of the blades and strict correlation in the motion of the rings are the prerequisites...
In this article, volatile organic compounds in 14 honey samples (rosemary, eucalyptus, orange, thyme, sage, and lavender) were identified. Volatile organic compounds were extracted using a solid phase microextraction method followed by gas chromatography connected with mass spectrometry analysis. The studied honey samples were compared based on their volatile organic compounds composition. In total,...
Prediction of chiral separation for a compound using a chiral selector is an interesting and debatable work. For this purpose, in this study 23 chiral basic drugs with different chemical structures were selected as model solutes and the influence of their chemical structures on the enantioseparation in the presence of maltodextrin (MD) as chiral selector was investigated. For chiral separation, a...
Profens (2‐arylpropionic acids) are known as one of the major nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) used in the treatment of inflammation associated with tissue injury. The inflammatory activity of profens is mainly due to their (S)‐enantiomer, whereas they are commercially available not only as pure enantiomers, but as racemates as well. There are several methods widely used in order to obtain...
